Kabuto is an ancient Pokémon that was regenerated from a fossil. It is a dual-type Rock/Water Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Kabuto is believed to have inhabited beaches 300 million years ago and has remained largely unchanged since then. This Pokémon is protected by a hard, sturdy shell that it uses for defense while hiding on the seafloor.

Interestingly, Kabuto uses the eyes on its back while concealing itself on the ocean floor. In extremely rare cases, living specimens of Kabuto have been discovered, though the species is considered almost entirely extinct. Kabuto molts every three days, which makes its shell progressively harder.

Kabuto evolves into Kabutops at level 40, transforming from a small, crab-like creature into a more bipedal, scythe-armed Pokémon. Despite its ancient origins, Kabuto has adapted to modern battling with abilities like Swift Swim, which doubles its speed in rain, and Battle Armor, which protects it from critical hits.
