Parasect is a dual-type Bug/Grass Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It is the evolved form of Paras, transforming at level 24. Parasect is known as the Mushroom Pokémon, with its body almost entirely taken over by the parasitic mushroom on its back. The insect host is mostly drained of nutrients, leaving the mushroom in control. Parasect's eyes appear blank and white, suggesting the insect part may be "zombified" by the mushroom.

In the wild, Parasect can be found in damp, dark places like caves or dense forests. They are known to infest trees en masse, draining nutrients from the roots and trunk until the tree dies, then moving on to another. Parasect's spores have various uses - they can induce sleep, paralyze, or poison targets. In some regions, these spores are harvested for use in traditional medicines, though the quality varies.

Parasect has an interesting relationship with other mushroom Pokémon. It's known to sometimes fight with Shiinotic over territory. Despite its fearsome appearance, Parasect is not particularly strong in battle due to its numerous weaknesses, though it can be effective against Psychic types.
