Seadra is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. This dragon-like aquatic creature is known for its powerful venom and aggressive nature. Seadra's body is covered in rough scales and sharp spines, which provide protection and can cause numbness or fainting if touched carelessly. It has a long, tubular mouth with strong suction power, allowing it to quickly consume prey larger than its mouth opening.

In the wild, Seadra is a formidable predator. It can swim backwards by rapidly flapping its wing-like pectoral fins and stout tail. Seadra generates whirlpools by spinning its body, which are strong enough to swallow fishing boats. It uses these currents to weaken prey before swallowing them whole. When resting, Seadra often wriggles between coral branches, occasionally stinging unsuspecting coral harvesters with its poison barbs.

Interestingly, it's the male Seadra that raises the offspring. While caring for their young, the spines on their backs secrete thicker and stronger poison. Seadra's fins and bones are prized ingredients in traditional medicine, adding to its value beyond its role in the Pokémon world.

Evolutions

Seadra evolves from Horsea at level 32. It can further evolve into Kingdra when traded while holding a Dragon Scale.

Habits and Additions Across Generations

In Generation 2, Seadra gained the ability to evolve into Kingdra, expanding its evolutionary line. Its hidden ability, Damp, was introduced in later generations, preventing the use of self-destructive moves like Explosion while Seadra is on the field. The addition of the Dragon egg group in breeding mechanics also expanded Seadra's role in Pokémon breeding strategies.
