Crobat is a dual-type Poison/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It is the final evolution of Zubat, evolving from Golbat when leveled up with high friendship. Crobat is a purple, bat-like Pokémon with two pairs of wings - an upper pair that is slightly larger and a lower pair that developed from its hind legs. This unique four-winged structure allows Crobat to fly faster and more quietly than its pre-evolutions. Its flight is so silent that it can sneak up on prey without being noticed. Crobat's enhanced flying capabilities come at the cost of reduced walking ability, making it clumsy on the ground.

Crobat is known for its exceptional speed and agility in the air. It can fly through cramped caves without slowing down and can alternate between its front and rear wings to fly all day without stopping. This Pokémon is nocturnal, becoming active when night falls. Crobat's silent flight and sharp fangs make it an efficient predator, able to swiftly approach its target and sink its fangs into the nape of its neck.

  • Ruby: If this Pokémon is flying by fluttering only a pair of wings on either the forelegs or hind legs, it's proof that Crobat has been flying a long distance. It switches the wings it uses if it is tired.
  • Diamond: Having four wings enables it to fly faster and more quietly. It turns active when the night comes.
  • Sword: Both of its legs have turned into wings. Without a sound, Crobat flies swiftly toward its prey and sinks its fangs into the nape of its target's neck.

Evolutions

Zubat (Level 22) → Golbat (high Friendship) → Crobat

Habits and Adaptations Across Generations

Crobat's evolution from Golbat represents a significant adaptation in its species. The transformation of its hind legs into a second pair of wings greatly enhanced its flying capabilities. This adaptation allows Crobat to excel in its nocturnal hunting lifestyle, making it one of the most efficient aerial predators in the Pokémon world. Its ability to fly silently and maneuver through tight spaces has been consistently emphasized across different Pokédex entries, highlighting the importance of this trait to its survival and hunting strategy.
