Slowpoke is a pink Pokémon that resembles a cross between a salamander and a hippopotamus with vacant eyes that never seem focused, curled ears, and a rounded, tan muzzle. It is incredibly slow and dopey, taking five seconds to feel pain when under attack. Slowpoke uses its tail to fish by dipping it in water at the side of a river, but the scent of spice emanating from its tail often results in poor catches. The tail drips a sweet, sappy substance that attracts many species of fish, and although it can break off, it will grow back. Slowpoke tails are considered a delicacy and commonly used as a cooking ingredient - in Alola, they're often dried for home-cooked stews, while in Galar, they're smoked for curry. Despite being one of the stupidest Pokémon, its evolution Slowking is considered one of the smartest. Slowpoke is always vacantly lost in thought, though no one knows what it's thinking about. It gives off a stimulating scent due to chemicals from the spice it eats as its staple food. Interestingly, Slowpoke's original English name was "Slowmo".
